Past District Governor George Wade

ROTARY BIO of George J. Wade It all started December 12, 1983 after Walt Baun (EFR) invited me to become a Charter Member of the new Fresno Sunrise Club. Of course, I did my share of pancake breakfasts and such. My first real Rotary experience was when I became involved with Rotary Youth Exchange. Under the Youth Exchange leadership of Dr. Wilfred Pimentel, I served as the District Communications Officer, corresponding with other Rotarians and families of the students around the world. My family hosted a student from Switzerland. During the Rotary year of 1988-1989 I served as the club’s fifth president. Because of morning health issues, I left Sunrise in 1990 and joined Noon meeting of our sponsoring Rotary Club of East Fresno. When East Fresno moved in 1996, I became for DG Ray Gomez the organizer and for DG Mary Margaret Fleming the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Fresno Airport. Because Fresno Airport changed its meeting time and place to an evening meeting, I found it necessary to return my membership to East Fresno in April 2008. During the Rotary year of 1997-1998 I served DG Charles Montgomery as District Membership and Retention Chair with a repeat performance in 1998-1999 for DG Ray Rahn. During the Rotary year of 2004-2005 I served DG Gloria Clinton as District Newsletter Editor. This was the official beginning of electronic publishing for the district. In 2005-2006 my service was ADG Information-Communications for DG Ted Marsella. This was the roll-out year for the IRC which I began developing six months earlier. 2006-2007 brought continued IRC project development as ADG of Information-Communications for DG Don Kremer. My three year commitment to the IRC Project was completed during DG Nina Clancy’s (2007-2008) year as ADG Information Technology. I became responsible for the research, negotiations, and leadership presentations for the expansion of the IRC.  I served DG August Hioco 2008-2009 as District Administrator of a new online conferencing facility to reduce travel and improve communications within D-5230.  DG Bob Eurich as Lt Governor 2009-2010, and became 2009-2010 District Rotarian of the Year. DGE in 7-1-2010 . District Governor 2011-2012, General Chair of Far West PETS 2014. District Rotary Foundation Stewardship Chair 2013-2014 January 30, 2015 Rotary International Vocational Service Leadership Award / presented by RI President Gary C.K. Huang
